Cillian Murphy Can’t Help But Imagine Oscars Audience Disintegrating During Acceptance Speech

LOS ANGELES — Accepting his award for “Best Actor” at the 96th Academy Awards, Cillian Murphy reportedly couldn’t stop imagining the cheering audience disintegrating in flashes of white during his rousing speech.

“This was such an incredible film to work on… with a powerful message that was understood by all viewers!” Murphy said, watching his fellow celebrities cheer and shout in his honor as their skin melted off their faces in the horrific display of his mind’s eye. “There’s nothing more important going on in the world right now, than honoring the magic of the cinema.”

Other attendees noticed the look of conflict on Murphy’s face during his speech.

“It was so weird; like he’s sad he won or something. Do you wanna give me the award? Because I’ll happily take it. Winning awards is cool,” said Murphy’s co-star Benny Safdie.

“At one point he just kinda stood there silently contemplating…something,” said Margot Robbie. “But I dunno, I was having a lot of fun clapping.”

At press time, Murphy also admitted he spent a good chunk of the speech imagining Florence Pugh naked.
