LOS ANGELES — Streamer Herschel Beahm IV, better known as Dr Disrespect, reportedly sent a 4,000 word statement defending himself against accusations of pedophilia to one of his 15-year-old fans in a direct message on Twitch by accident.
“Let me clear this right the fuck up: did I message a minor? Yes. Was it inappropriate? Yes. Does that make me a pedophile? Absolutely fucking not. Anyone who knows me knows that I actually think pedophilia is gross. Haters, I hope knowing that, you feel like an idiot now,” Beahm said, thinking he was posting to Twitter and not a lengthy conversation with a sophomore in high school. “Oh shit, Madison. Sorry. Just ignore all that. Meant to send to someone else.”
According to those familiar with the situation, the fan who Beahm messaged was confused to receive the statement.
“At first I thought he meant to text his wife. He sends me stuff sometimes that seems like it’s supposed to be for her,” the fan explained. “I tried to remind him that the lawyer said he’s not supposed to talk to me anymore, but the conversation was mutually confusing.”
At press time, Beahm admitted to his error, saying that he had made a “minor mistake.” Afterwards, he edited his apology to say it was an “individual mistake” and then once more to say it was an “individual minor mistake.”
