LOS ANGELES — Apple announced today that a Director’s Cut of “Killer’s of the Flower Moon” will be released in February 2024 and will include two additional hours of Louis Cancelmi dancing at a wedding.
“I really think the crux of the film is that scene where Louis is just kinda going to town acting all crazy with his dance moves. Some people criticized the film for being too long, but I actually think we could have gone far longer — specifically with that scene,” explained director Martin Scorsese. “It’s all there. Greed, racism, imperialism, American hypocrisy, the pitfalls of masculinity… you get it all in Louis’ dancing scene. That’s why we added two more hours of that and that alone.”
Scorsese then became deeply serious.
“And don’t even fucking think about putting an intermission in that cut. If you’re watching it at home, do not go to the bathroom. I’ll fucking know if you do and I will hunt you down,” the 81-year-old director insisted. “You think I won’t do it? I’ve got mob connections, motherfucker. All my movies about the mafia — ‘Goodfellas,’ ‘Casino,’ ‘Mean Streets,’ ‘The Irishman’ — those are just coverups so that the normies and the police think that being in the mob comes with a steep price. But it doesn’t, it’s actually dope as fuck. Being in the mob rules. And if you put an intermission in my film, I will use the vast power of the Italian mob to kill you.”
Louis Cancelmi discussed what it was like working with the iconic director on his latest Oscar-nominated feature.
“It was hard!” Cancelmi said. “Lots of dancing.”
Despite Scorsese’s insistence, some who worked on the film have revealed that the director is also considering adding several takes of Brendon Fraser in the courtroom scene, just for fun.
