LOS ANGELES – Nervous fans of The Mandalorian were placated today after Jon Favreau made assurances that the titular characters of “The Mandalorian & Grogu” would not undergo any conflict which sincerely challenges the status quo of their relationship.
“We had two critically acclaimed seasons of The Mandalorian, and we also made a third one,” Favreau said. “Din Djarin learned in season one both the responsibilities and the rewards of parental love, and in season two, he learned that this responsibility extends to letting go when the time is right. It was our hope that we, as viewers, could grow alongside him. But then we decided that fans just want to watch him and Grogu sit in the cockpit or play little games, so we did that in season three. We’re sticking with that.”
The screenplay will be written by Favreau and Dave Filoni. The team wants to make clear that although screenplays famously contain conflict, this is not reason to worry– if they ever get separated in the screenplay, they won’t let more than three pages pass before they give each other a big hug as strings swell. Shhhhh, shhhh. It’s okay. I’ve got you. Daddy’s got you.
Filoni seems to have let a major spoiler loose in his first interview about the series.
“Eventually, we will certainly have Mando die,” Filoni said. “But it will be when we’re sure the series is absolutely toast. Djarin will save Grogu in a heroic sacrifice to remind you of the way you felt in season one.”
The Star Wars veterans reminded viewers that in order to understand the movies, you have to make sure you watch all of the Star Wars shows front-to-back, preferably twice.
