Man Fooled by Obvious Satirical Article “Honestly Wouldn’t Be Surprised” if The Minions Won Gubernatorial Primary

MINNESOTA — After being teased for posting “This country has gone to seed,” with a link to a blatantly satirical article in which Illumination’s The Minions win the New Jersey Republican Gubernatorial Primary, Samuel Dimplebar doubled down on his silly mistake.

“Yeah, but to be frank, The Minions could get elected Governor in this crazy world,” said Dimplebar, with a calm, knowing smile. “It’s not so outlandish that multiple cartoon characters could hold elected office. Anyone could have made the same – I hesitate to even call it a mistake.”

The article Dimplebar shared included several other obviously infeasible claims, including an endorsement from revived-from-cryostasis Walt Disney, a campaign that involved Minions cameos in Dune 2 and Oppenheimer, and Chris Christie performing well in a Presidential primary.

“I reported the article for misinformation,” Dimplebar said. “It’s not funny to spread fake news about The Minions winning political office. This sort of thing is how Trump got elected.”

The author of the article felt differently.

“Every time I write something, I desperately try to heighten it to a point where everyone will immediately recognize it as a joke,” said comedian Sarah Rollins. “I just did one where NASA got a letter from the moon asking why it never visits anymore. People got really sad in the comments. I am going insane.”

At press time, Dimplebar was posting about how Tiktok has destroyed media literacy in America.
